What a week!

 

You and I covered a lot of ground on CBD.

 

Now, let’s get back to the stock market action.

 

The jobs report was just released (8:30am EST).

 

May payrolls 75k vs. expectation of 175k. 

 

INVESTOR INSIGHTS – The Amazing Stock Market Rally 

S&P 500 rallied 100 points in 4 days. That’s an incredible rally.

The buyers are stepping up. And I would not get in front of this freight train.

 

Why?

 

Because I haven’t seen any selling pressure all week.

 

And I don’t like to sell short on Fridays.

 

Why?

 

Because I don’t want to worry about my positions over the weekend.

You never know what can happen.

 

The Mexico tariff headline risk looms. I don’t think President Trump is bluffing.

 

Take look at the support and the resistance levels:

 

Resistance is at 2,835 and 2,869 (red lines).

 

Support is around 2,800, 2,775 and 2,745 (blue lines).

 

 

I don’t see the market rallying much higher than 2,869.  

 

I think the market needs to pull back and/or consolidate first.

I will share very exciting stats about the CBD market.

 

Let’s dive right in.

INVESTOR INSIGHTS – CBD Primer (part 3 of 3) 

Pot stocks are the worst investment you can make right now if you want to get rich from the marijuana boom.

I’m staying away and so should you.  

But there IS a way to profit off cannabis….

CBD is already legal in all 50 states.

You can buy it in stores right now.

CVS, Walgreens, and Rite Aid are slowly rolling it out.

And it was just reported Walmart and Target are interested in selling it too.

Why?

Because the market is huge.

Merrill Lynch shows CBD is disrupting markets generating $2.6 trillion per year in revenue.

And if it captures just a fraction of these markets, it’s set to become a $260 billion market. Very fast.

That’s roughly 15 times bigger than the recreational pot and medical marijuana industries combined.

Big companies like Coca-Cola are looking to jump into CBD. 

 

They said: 

“We have no interest in marijuana or cannabis. Along with many others in the beverage industry, we are closely watching the growth of non-psychoactive CBD as an ingredient in functional wellness beverages around the world.”

I’m definitely looking to pick up a few CBD stocks for my portfolio. 

And even though I did a lot of research, I don’t feel comfortable picking the stocks myself.

So I turned to an expert (and a friend).

Do you watch the show Billions?

 

It’s one of my favorite shows. It’s loosely based on a story of Steven Cohen.

 

It’s about hedge fund billionaires. Their lifestyles and crazy stories.

 

Steven has been out of the game for some time. But he’s back.

 

He raised $5 billion of outside capital last year when he launched his new fund. 

And now he’s doubling down on quant trading strategies. While others like HBK Capital Management are throwing in the towel.

 

HBK will be closing its quant unit. They are liquidating a $400 million quant fund and returning the capital to investors.

 

I guess it’s not just humans who don’t know how to trade this market.

What does he mean? 

 

A federal judge ruled that House Democrats can’t stop President Trump from using military funds to build the Border Wall. 

 

Why? 

 

“Because the Constitution grants the House no standing to litigate these claims.”

On Monday, I talked about the end of the market sell off. And I said it’s a good idea to add some long exposure.

 

I was right.

 

And everyone I talked to profited. Even Frost Junior (my son).

 

He’s in lower school but he’s always eager to learn.

 

I’m teaching him about trading.    

 

Why?

 

Because I think trading is the ultimate home business. No product, no website, and no advertising.

 

And I want him to know how to make extra money on the side… consistently.

 

On Monday, I showed him how to do a quick options trade (his first ever).

 

He went long the stock market using SPY call options (with my help).

 

How did it play out?

 

Awesome, Frost Junior said.

 

Take a look at the screenshot from his E-trade account:

 

He bought the SPY calls at $4.33 (at the market open on Monday) and sold them for $4.98 on Tuesday.

 

A gain of 13% or $113 (after commissions) in 24 hours.

 

He was SOOOO excited. I told him to hold on to them longer but he couldn’t resist the gains. And he told me to sell. LOL… it was fun.

 

But I hope he develops more patience and discipline (the key to success in trading).  

 

Anyway, if you added long exposure, it might be a good idea to take some profits.

INVESTOR INSIGHTS – CBD Primer (part 2 of 3)

Yesterday, I gave you a quick overview of CBD.

 

Today, I’m going to talk about the medical benefits.

 

CBD has been called a medical miracle.

 

Harvard Medical School … the Mayo Clinic … and other scientists who study it conclude it is effective in reducing seizures.

 

Nick Jikomes, a PhD in neuroscience from Harvard, says:

 

“Perhaps the most remarkable thing about CBD is the sheer number and variety of its potential therapeutic applications.”

 

CBD is drastically reducing the effects of Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis….

 

It’s also used to address anxiety… insomnia… chronic pain… and more.

 

And equally important is… CBD does not get you high.

 

Arthritis sufferers love it too. 

 

Arthritis is the leading cause of disability in the United States. 

 

Half of seniors suffer from it.

Amyris is a Silicon Valley-based company. It uses living things to make sweetener and face cream. And it’s the latest company to dive into CBD.

 

In March, Amyris inked a $300 million deal with a new startup to make lab-grown CBD.

 

Their goal?

 

“Flavor solution” to an emerging problem with the $1 billion CBD industry.

 

They want to use their sweetener to make CBD-based drinks that actually taste good.

I have been reading a lot about legalization of pot.

 

But the fact is, recreational pot legalization has stalled.

 

Why?

 

Because the federal government is holding all the cards.

 

And it could take years, even decades, before all 50 states legalize it.

 

But the real question is:

 

Do you need to wait for pot legalization to make money?

 

It’s a great question.

 

And I decided to get to the bottom of it.

 

I will break it down to three parts over three days… because there is a lot to talk

about.

 

Today, we’ll start with a general overview.

INVESTOR INSIGHTS – CBD Primer (part 1) 

There are two different types of products created by the cannabis plant.

 

There’s what most people know as pot (or weed). This contains THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, a psychoactive compound that makes people feel “high.”

 

THC is listed as a Schedule One drug by the FBI as a result.

 

Right there with heroin and meth.

 

The second type of cannabis is hemp. And hemp produces a chemical called

CBD. That stands for cannabidiol.

 

What does it do? And why is it so potentially valuable?

 

We don’t have time to go in to the science here… so I’ll keep it simple.

 

For starters, it’s not psychoactive. It doesn’t get you “high.”

 

So it’s not a Schedule One drug.

 

What it does, exactly, scientists are just beginning to explore.

 

We know that it likely works better than big pharma meds at alleviating pain….

 

Specialty businesses extract CBD from the hemp plant…

 

They combine it with natural oils like coconut oil and olive oil…

 

To make “tinctures” called CBD oil.

 

A few years ago, nobody knew what CBD oil was.

And today, there is a huge demand for it.

 

Millions of people are taking it as a health supplement.

 

And that’s where the immediate opportunities are…

Sempra Energy said on Friday the $10 billion Cameron liquefied natural gas export terminal in Louisiana had shipped its first cargo.

 

Take a look at the tanker (called Marvel Crane) carrying the first cargo: 

 

 

That’s great news and another big win for President Trump.

Failed presidential candidate Hilary Clinton called Bernie Sanders a sore loser.

 

And she said “he’ll burn the place down”.

 

Here’s a long list of people she blames for her election loss:

  – Barack Obama

  – FBI Director James Comey

  – Russia

  – Democratic National Committee

  – Bernie Sanders

 

And the list goes on and on.

 

To summarize… Hillary is giving someone a hard time for not accepting a loss gracefully?

On May 22, I talked about gold. I said:

 

“I expect gold will be higher several weeks from now than where it is today.”

 

Let’s see how it played out:

Gold rallied from 1,274 to 1,321 after my call, a 47 point gain.

 

A great short term trade. 

 

You could have done extremely well in less than 2 weeks (a potential 100%+ gain using options).

INVESTOR INSIGHTS – Is the Market Selloff Over?

S&P has delivered its worst May return (falling 6.6%) in seven years and second worse since the 1960s.

Should you be worried?

I don’t think so. Selloffs are normal in bull markets.

We have been in bull market for over a decade. And I don’t believe it’s over just yet.

I think we are setting up for a bounce.

On Friday (5/31), I said there will be an opportunity to go long the market.

And I think we are getting very close.

 

Take a look at the charts of S&P futures:

We gaped down last night. And we currently trading around 2,745.

 

You can see various indicators on my chart. I’ll go over them some other time.

 

Anyway, I looked around and I found an interesting quantitative analysis.

 

On Friday, the market met certain conditions (too complex to get into). All you need to know is there were 8 instances when this happened between 1995 and present.

 

And if you bought on the day these conditions were met and held for 5 days, you would have made money 100% of the time.

 

Pretty good odds.

 

I think it’s a good idea to add some long exposure tomorrow.

Yesterday, the Google Cloud went down around 3pm EST.

And almost everything went down with it.

People with “smart homes” were in trouble… they couldn’t turn their AC on or open their “smart” locks to let people into the house…

 

What did Google say?

 

“We will conduct an internal investigation of this issue and make appropriate improvements to our systems to help prevent or minimize future recurrence.” 

 

Question for you…  

 

When the “cloud” goes down, is the called the “fog”? LOL…

Was it a regular outage or is there more to the story?

Yesterday, I talked about Google’s secret page.

 

And I showed you how Google tracks your purchase history using Gmail.

 

I blacked out one of my personal purchases. And almost all of you wanted to know what it was.

So here it is:

 

Why did I buy it?

 

Well… summer is coming. And I want to look my best. And my best is not chubby Frederick.

 

I have to lose weight (at least 20 pounds). So I hired an online personal trainer.

 

Let’s call her Dragon Lady.  

 

Why?

 

She gives me workouts through an app. I review them on my phone. And then I suffer…

 

It’s a 12 week program (gym + diet). And the workouts are grueling.

 

Sometimes I’m so sore I can barely type.

Now you know who to blame if you spot a spelling mistake in your Morning Bullets…

INVESTOR INSIGHTS – MAGA Economics 

President Trump’s new tariffs spooked the markets.

I said it was an emotional reaction.  

And I’m sticking to my story.

U.S. economy is doing great. There are no signs of a recession.

How do I know?

Because media and economists or as I like to call them the dismal scientists are talking recession… recession… recession…

That means the exact opposite will happen.

Q1’19 GDP was revised down to 3.1%.

That’s pretty darn good if you ask me…

My favorite source of objective information is Economic Cycle Research Institute. It’s a think tank that has been studying business cycles for a long time. They accurately forecast recessions. And they are NOT economics.

They appear on TV every week and you can follow them for free on Twitter.

Their CEO recently said: “I don’t think there’s a recession imminent.”

Facebook had their annual shareholders meeting on Thursday.

 

They had a rough year so far. They can’t shake off privacy issues and fake news.

 

As a result, a group of small activists showed up… with an inflatable angry emoji…

According to the latest Harvard survey, his job approval rating soared to its highest level.

Last night, I was at home watching TV. It was around 8:30pm.

 

And all the sudden, my phone is buzzing. Like crazy.  

 

Text messages are coming in… from everywhere.

 

One of them was from one of the most successful hedge fund traders I know. But more about him later.

 

Hmmm… very strange (and unusual).

 

I pick my phone up and instantly see why…

 

Trump tweeted:

My immediate reaction was to check the stock market.

 

And as I expected, the S&P futures plunged almost 30 points.

 

Does that make sense? I asked myself.

 

The answer was no.

Why?

 

Because these are emotional (not rational) reactions.

 

And they usually present big opportunities.

 

I think there will be an opportunity to go long in the market very soon.

TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME

Mueller is in the spotlight… for the last time (I think… ).

He resigned on Wednesday.

And suggested that testifying before Congress would be pointless.

He said, “The report is my testimony.”

Why did Democrats want him to testify?

Well, Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) argued most Americans won’t read the report. And they need “to see the movie.”

I think I have something better.

The cliff notes version of the Mueller report:

President Trump has not committed any crime.

And there was NO COLLUSION.

INVESTOR INSIGHTS – 5G Primer (part 3 of 3)

Now, let’s talk about China.

 

President Trump is currently in a trade war with China.

 

He slapped both sanctions and tariffs on Chinese companies.

 

But what if there’s more to the story than meets the eye?

 

Here are the facts.

 

China is the largest mobile market in the world (over 1.2 billion subscribers). And they want to dominate the 5G race. 

 

Their two major 5G players are Huawei and ZTE.

 

Now take a look at this timeline:

 

January 2018

 

A leaked White House memo names Huawei a strategic threat.

 

May 2018

 

The Pentagon bans the sale of Huawei and ZTE phones in stores on military bases.

 

Why?

 

Because the Chinese government could track soldiers’ movements or spy on their communications.

 

August 2018

 

The National Defense Authorization Act prevents government agencies from buying equipment or services from Huawei and ZTE.

 

October 2018

 

Leading U.S. lawmakers urge Canada to bar Huawei from helping build its 5G networks.

 

Why?

 

Because it could pose danger to U.S. networks.

 

December 2018

 

Huawei’s chief financial officer is arrested in Canada at the request of U.S. law enforcement.

 

January 2019

 

The U.S. files criminal charges against Huawei.

 

The allegations?

 

Conspiring to evade U.S. trade sanctions and steal trade secrets.

 

May 15, 2019

 

President Trump signs an executive order banning U.S. telecom firms from using the equipment of “foreign adversaries.”

 

Days later, Google makes a shocking announcement. Google decided to terminate Huawei’s license to the Android OS, which powers all of their phones.

 

I don’t know about you but I see the pattern.

 

This is not just about the trade war. It’s about 5G and a threat to U.S. national security.

 

Why? 

 

Because 5G is sooo important. 

 

Even the liberals agree… 

TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME

That’s not a typo.

 

It’s true and it’s about 5G.

 

Take a look at this headline:

The article concludes the fear about Huawei 5G network is genuine, and warranted.

 

And I agree.

 

U.S. has to be very vigilant when it comes to matters of national security.

– Enterprise spending on 5G technology is predicted to hit $2.7 trillion by 2020 (Greensill, 2019). 

 

– Wireless industries plan to invest $275 billion in 5G networks.

 

– China is expected to invest ($134 billion – $223 billion) in 5G. And economic value derived from the commercial operations of 5G will reach $3.7 trillion.

 

– A leading financial research firm which charges $15k per year for their research said “The 5G disruptive tide is both seismic and inevitable, ensuring it will be one of the best investment themes in a generation.”

 

Amazing facts.

I found something very interesting.

Something I haven’t seen in the mainstream news.

 

Did you know Intel pulled out of the 5G race?

 

It’s shocking but it’s true.

 

And I’m going to tell you about it in our Silicon Valley section below.

INVESTOR INSIGHTS – 5G Primer (part 2) 

As 5G rolls out to all of America, the stock market gains could be massive.

But will they be quick?

Some people say 5G is an infrastructure play. And it won’t pay off for a while.

Why?

Because 5G networks need to be build on a higher frequency.

And high frequency waves have a harder time traveling over distance and through objects.

The solution?

5G stations have to be very close to consumers.

To accomplish that, small antennas will pop up all over the place (as close as 500 feet apart).

But I don’t think you have to wait to profit from the 5G revolution.

I think there are opportunities right now.

I’m not an expert but I found someone who I think you should listen to.

He’s an angel investor. He’s put his own money into 111 new projects — and 95.3% of them were successful.

I’m going through his research right now and I will tell you all about it tomorrow.

 

Because there is no room to cover this story in Morning Bullets.

YOUR SILICON VALLEY (LIBERAL) OVERLORDS

Apple settled their long standing patent dispute with Qualcomm… for at least a whopping $4.5 billion (that’s $4,500,000,000).

 

Why?

 

Because of 5G.

 

Here’s the story:

 

Apple has been exclusively buying Intel’s modems (due to its fight with Qualcomm).

 

But they saw the writing on the wall.

 

And they determined Intel modems wouldn’t be ready in time for a 5G iPhone.

 

So they decided to pony up billions… and make up with Qualcomm.

 

Because Qualcomm’s 5G technology is WAY ahead of the others. (Side note: more than 18 manufacturers have already committed to launching 5G handsets with Qualcomm modems. They also recently announced the industry’s first System-on-Chip (SoC) 5G integrated mobile platform. What does this mean? Qualcomm is far and away the industry leader)

 

Do you know what happened right after the Apple / Qualcomm dispute was settled?

 

Intel dropped out of the 5G race. Just hours after the settlement.  

 

Intel knew they couldn’t compete.

TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME

From Fake News to Fake Quotes…

 

Ian Bremmer (Time Magazine) completely made up a quote from President Trump.

 

Here is what he said (in a now-deleted tweet):

When pressed about the quote’s accuracy, he said the quote was “plausible” and represents the “state of media and the twitterverse today.”

 

Bremmer eventually apologized for fabricating the quote and said:

 

I think he followed the liberal playbook to a T:

 

L.R.A.

 

Or in layman’s terms:

 

Lie -> Retract -> Apologize

 

In a sane world, this guy would be out of a job.
