In the last three months, the virus has taken the lives of 100,000 Americans. Right now, this country is logging over 200,000 new infections each day and more than 3,000 deaths. At the same time, a new mutation was discovered to be even more contagious.

The creators of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine found that their drug is likely to protect against that variation of the virus (which is called B.1.1.7.)  as well.

Though the study has not undergone peer review just yet, it concluded that there was “no biologically significant difference in neutralization activity” when it came to the vaccine’s impact on the new strain versus the first one.
