SCIENCE HAS A NEW WAY TO TELL IF YOU’RE A JERK…

Scientists have determined that if you drive an expensive car, you’re probably a jerk.

 

Don’t kill the messenger, though…

 

It was pretty much unanimous!

So, what exactly do they mean?

 

“A new study has found that drivers of flashy vehicles are less likely to stop and allow pedestrians to cross the road — with the likelihood they’ll slow down decreasing by 3% for every extra $1,000 that their vehicle is worth.”

 

Why?

 

Because researches speculated that they “felt a sense of superiority over other road users” and were less able to empathize with lowly sidewalk-walkers.

 

And it looks like they could be racist and sexist, too.

 

“Vehicles stopped 31% of the time for both women and white participants, compared with 24% of the time for men and 25% of the time for black volunteers.”

 

A Finnish study last month found similar results.

 

It found that men who own flashy vehicles are more likely to be “argumentative, stubborn, disagreeable and unempathetic.”

 

Here’s the funny thing:

 

People with “conscientious” characters seek out pricey models, too.

Sometimes it’s easy to forget that we’re aimlessly spinning around in space. Today’s edition should bring that back, close to home.

IS THE SUN CAUSING WHALES TO BEACH THEMSELVES?

In 2019, 215 whales stranded themselves on the beach.

Many of them died.

And now, scientists think they might know what’s causing it.
The sun.
It turns out that solar storms millions of miles away can disrupt our magnetic field.
And when that happens, whales are essentially swimming “blind.”

“We think whales are getting stranded more often during solar storms because they’ve gone blind,” said first author Jesse Granger. “The impacts of these storms on Earth could be shutting down the animals’ ability to sense the magnetic field.”

 

But scientists still don’t understand exactly what’s happening.

 

And even if we do “understand it” it doesn’t mean that we can stop the problem.

 

It’s just one more reminder that what happens here on Earth is intimately tied with our dance in the heavens.

We now know that like the Earth and the Moon, Mars has earthquakes.

Marsquakes, to be more exact.

They are stronger than those on the Moon, but weaker than those here.

And they aren’t exactly a rare occurrence.

This is just one of the surprising finds that six recent studies have shed light on.

They’ve also been following the dust storms and found out surprising things about the magnetic field surrounding the planet.

In fact, it’s 10 times stronger than scientists had expected.

And it formed in some weird ways.

There’s a lot weird about Mars, in fact.

LIke this strange glow that the Mars Lander detected in the night sky.

And this freaky pit they came across.

Scientists are claiming that 100,000 of us will be living on Mars at the end of the century.

And this company is working hard to make sure that happens.
Their nuclear fusion plasma engine prototype could be the answer.
