A 20-year-old woman is dead after apparently being set on fire by her lover’s younger brother in northern India, authorities say.
The suspect, who is known as Pawan, apparently is an employee of a brick kiln, and some say he was at work at the time of the incident. However, police say that invited the woman, whose name was not released, to his home and dumped gasoline all over her. He then set her on fire and left.
She was taken to a nearby hospital by neighbors who apparently heard her screams. But she died the next day of her injuries.
Pawan, who has since been arrested, did not support the relationship between the woman and his older brother, some say.
